How to Use the Acupressure Massage Pillow & Mat Set for Best Results

If you aren’t familiar with acupressure, lying down on a bunch of spikes might not sound relaxing. But acupressure is one of the oldest forms of healing in the world that comes with many benefits for your mind and body.

The Acupressure Massage Pillow & Mat Set has over 6,000 acupressure points that simultaneously press against your body when you lie on the mat. Acupressure, a method of signaling the body to self-heal, can instantly reduce pain and inflammation caused by sore muscles and trigger points. Patiently and consistently applying acupressure will release endorphins in your body, alleviating pain and calming anxiety. After each use of the mat, your body can heal itself, giving you a sense of euphoric pleasure.

What is acupressure?

Acupressure started out as an ancient Chinese belief that disease disrupted the flow of energy or Qi in the body. By poking and massaging certain points in the body, acupressure stimulates the nerves and releases endorphins or Qi so that your body can heal faster and feel less pain and more happiness.

Benefits of the Acupressure Massage Pillow & Mat Set:

  • Applies acupressure, stimulating nerves, releasing endorphins, and relieving stress
  • Increases blood flow to tight muscles through acupressure

Using the mat will release endorphins that will make you feel healthier and happier. Acupressure has been known to reduce back pain, neck pain, anxiety, and stress as well as provide you with increased energy.

How does the mat reduce back pain?

The Acupressure Massage Pillow & Mat Set is great for relieving back pain. As over 6,000 acupressure points are pressed into your body, you will experience increased blood flow and a release of endorphins. Proper blood flow will help your back heal faster and will help your sore muscles relax, relieving tension. Chirp’s Acupressure Massage Pillow & Mat Set is especially great for back pain relief because you can customize it to fit your needs. If you experience lower back pain, place the Acupressure Pillow in the small of your back when you lie down. You can also travel with the mat easily, as it rolls up conveniently to take with you and use in your travels, on your commute, or at work.

How do you use the Acupressure Massage Pillow & Mat Set? How long should you lie on it?

If you are using the mat for the first time, we suggest starting slowly. As a beginner, you should consider placing a towel or a thin blanket between you and the mat to help lessen the sensation of the acupressure points against your skin. Just like when you’re getting a massage for the first time, you should take is slow. To make the mat feel softer, you can also place it on a bed, couch, or other soft surface. Lie on the mat for at least 5 minutes a day if you are a beginner.

If you feel you are ready for more pressure, place the mat on the ground and don’t use any cloth between you and the mat. Also start increasing the amount of time you lie on the mat from 5 minutes a day to 30 minutes a day in small increments.

As you use the mat, take slow, deep breaths, close your eyes, and empty your mind of any thoughts. Practicing meditation as you lie on the mat can help to reduce your anxiety and stress, giving you a better night’s sleep and more energy throughout your day.

You can also try using the mat for your feet or hands. There are many acupressure points in your feet and hands. You can try standing or placing your hands on the mat for 10 to 20 minutes. If standing on the mat with both feet causes too much pain, try placing one foot at a time on the mat. At any time if you feel uncomfortable placing your hands or feet on the mat or simply lying on it, try adjusting your position to feel more comfortable and relaxed.

Does the Acupressure Massage Pillow & Mat Set hurt?

You can apply as much pressure as is comfortable for you. If lying directly on the mat is too much pressure for you, try laying the mat against a couch or bed and leaning against it. Or try putting a towel down over it before you lie down. Gradually work up to the point where you can lie on the mat without pain.

Can you travel with it?

Yes. The mat rolls up with the pillow inside. It is easy to pack away or even carry around with you.
